"For over a thousand generations the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times. Before the Empire."
    ―Obi-Wan Kenobi

Jedi ranks

Jedi Initiate

Initiate is the first rank of the Order of Jedi Knights. This rank is given to Jedi when they first enter the Order after being invited. The role of an Initiate is not to undergo heavy studying. They should aim to learn about the Jedi Order and the Jedi within the academy. Once an Initiate has shown enough promises they will be approached by a Jedi Knight or Master who will request a start to Jedi training. If the request is passed the Initiate will start there training under this training master and progress to the rank of Padawan.

- An Initiate cannot use Dark Side Powers - An Initiate cannot hold a class or event

Jedi Padawan

Jedi Padawans receive personal training from their training master and are the main students of the teachings of the Order. The Padawan must learn all they can from their master to aid them in their tasks when they become a Jedi Knight. Once their master believes that they have no more to teach the Padawan, Adept Trials are held to determine if they are ready for the next stage of training as a Jedi Adept.

- A Padawan cannot use Dark Side Powers - A Padawan cannot hold a class or event

Jedi Adept

Jedi Adepts are mature students responsible for there own learning. They no longer have one to one training with a master. Instead it is up to the Jedi Adept to train themselves for the rigorous demands they will face as a Jedi Knight. To help each Adept reach the high standards required to be a Jedi Knight, Jedi Adepts are divided into groups and are placed under the supervision of an Advanced Jedi Knight or a Jedi Master. As soon as both the Jedi Adept and their mentor agree, a request for the Trials can be submitted to the Council.

- A Jedi Adept cannot use Dark Side Powers - A Jedi Adept can hold a class or event with the support and supervision of a Jedi Knight.

Jedi Knight

Jedi Knights are the teachers, diplomats and protectors of the Order and the Galaxy at-large. Each Jedi Knight is eventually charged, in additon to the enforcement of peace and order, with the duties of training a Padawan to the best of their ability and to protect the Jedi Order from any threat from inside or without. Jedi Knights must show sound judgment and unquestionable integrity. They are role-models of the Jedi Order.

- A Knight may not take more than one Padawan at a time

Advanced Jedi Knight Paths

Once a Jedi Knight believes they have advanced far enough in their training, they have the choice to specialize in a certain area of the Force. The Jedi Knight can then become an Advanced Jedi Knight by selecting one of the Advanced Jedi Knight paths. Advanced Knights hold the same rank as normal Jedi Knights, however they are experts in their chosen field and are often given extra responsibilities and tasks to perform by the Council. The senior members of each path are responsible for guiding members of their path to help aid the Jedi Order in special ways fitting to their specializations.  The paths are as follows:

Jedi Consular: Jedi Consulars study the mysteries of the Force. Their knowledge of the Force is extensive, and generally take on tactical leader roles in combat, manipulating the battle with the Force from the outskirts.  Normally they take on the role of teachers passing this knowledge on to students. Jedi Consulars like all other Jedi are skilled in the use of a lightsaber however they prefer to use their knowledge of the Force and wisdom instead of a blade.  They excel as archivists, loremasters, group trainers, and Temple administrators.

Jedi Guardian: Jedi Guardians are Masters of the lightsaber and direct Force combat. Their skills with a blade are second to none. Jedi Guardians spend large amounts of time training themselves in both body and mind to the demands that a battle brings. Jedi Guardians like all other Jedi are keepers of the peace and use their talents to do so, however they generally are quick to action rather than waiting to contemplate every facet of a situation.  This quickness to respond makes them excellent in special missions which require immediate action such as hostage negotiations.  They also excel at weapon masters, field commanders, and pilots.

Jedi Sentinel: Jedi Sentinels strike a balance between that of a Jedi Consular and a Jedi Guardian. Jedi Sentinels have both impressive lightsaber skills and intensive knowledge of the Force. Many Sentinels have expanded there training to include special non-Jedi skills, such as computer slicing, security, and demolitions. These skills make them very resourceful and has lead to many Jedi Sentinels take on tasks of investigating events or engaging in recon.  Sentinels also excel at infiltration into hostile territory to extract information otherwise unavailble, message encryption, and disguise.

Jedi Master

The title of Jedi Master is only given in very special circumstances. It is given to a Jedi Knight who has shown great loyalty to the Jedi Order and has made many personal sacrifices to protect or better the order. It is the duty of all Jedi Masters past and present to protect the Order from all potential threats, and to ensure that it continues to be a sanctuary for all Jedi learning, in addition to all other duties expected of a Jedi Knight.

The Jedi Code

We are The Order of Jedi Knights.
Jedi are required to have the most profound commitment and astute mind.
Jedi therefore must adhear to the Jedi Code in all things.
The Jedi Code is as follows:

- Jedi are the guardians of peace in the galaxy.
- Jedi use their powers to defend and protect, never to attack others.
- Jedi respect all life, in any form.
- Jedi serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the galaxy.
- Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training.

During your time here as a Jedi, you will learn the ways of the Jedi and The Force. There are many teachings which will be told to members of The Order. Our teachings seek out those with mature behaviour; we welcome good people and build lifelong friendships.

The Jedi High Council

The Jedi High Council is a group of Jedi which posses a form of governing power. The Council are thereby leaders of The Order of Jedi Knights. They make decisions for the the Order. Often, Knights will seek out advice from the council before acting upon something, and the most important of all matters which effect the Order are delegated by the Knights and Masters of the Order to be decided by the Council. The Council thereby exists to help and guide the Order on the right path. There is no individual leader of the Order, there is only the Council. Councillors do not therefore hold any special rank to designate their status, though generally when placed upon the Council, a Jedi Knight is conferred the rank of Jedi Master. Council members are among the most responsible and often wisest members of The Order of Jedi Knights.

In addition to guiding the Order, the Jedi High Council oversees the Trials of Jedi Knights.  They also organize committees to oversee instruction of Initiates, Padawans, and Adepts; celebratory events; tournaments and demonstrations; and other administrative functions.  As administrators of the Order, the Council are responsible for a great many undertakings by the Order, and are thereby often looked at for their leadership and organizational ability as well.

The High Council appoints members to its ranks when it deems there is a need, either to replace a retired or fallen member, or to expand during times of great Jedi prosperity.

Ceremonies

Initiation Ceremony

This ceremony is designed to give a warm welcome to new students entering the Order as Initiates. The way the ceremony is set up and done may vary, however it generally begins with an invitation by a Jedi Knight or Master to join the ranks of the Order. If accepted, the petitioner spends some time being engaged by questions and skill tests by other Jedi Knights and Masters. The whole of Jedi Knights and Masters converse with each other over the Holonet to discuss the petitioner's strengths and weaknesses, and whether they think s/he is capable of becoming a Jedi. If three Jedi Knights or Masters cast their ballot in favor of the Initiation, and none veto over the course of this petitioning week, the member is welcomed to the Order via a brief Initiation ceremony. If denied, the petitioner may not be invited again for at least 2 months.

The Trials

The Trials are intended to determine wether a Padawan has proved worthy of becoming a Jedi Knight of The Order. The Trials are one of the most important and memorable stages of the Jedi's time in the Order. The time of training as an Initiate and Padawan will eventually pay off if proven successful. The actual content of the Trials will always remain unknown to those below the rank of Jedi Knight. To take the Trials, the Padawan's master must make a request to the Council. The Council, taking the request into account, will then focus more attention on this Padawan. Trials will be tested both privately, and publically by the Knights and Masters of the Order.

The Trials taken to join the ranks of the Advanced Jedi Knight paths is more vague, and determined by Masters who have ascended from those paths.  The Knight must train at least one Padawan successfully to the rank of Jedi Knight and be active in the instruction of Padawans and Initiates through leading of group instruction. He/She must also have his path chosen beforehand in order to train him/herself for it, learning from fellow Knights and Masters of the Order. The Council will make a decision when they feel the Knight has accomplished the role of an Advanced Knight, and may require some amount of public and private Trials similar, but more complex, than the Trials taken at Knighthood.

Knighting Ceremony

This ceremony is a most memorable one. Being granted the rank of Jedi Knight of the Order. A great acompishment. The ceremony is similar to the Initiation Ceremony, except you may feel you are rewarded with something far greater. A milestone within the Order, and becoming a role model to those ranks below you. A time to pass on what you have learnt. When the council has decided on your decision after reviewing your trials, a ceremony will be given if you are successful. You will be placed in front of the council, being Knighted in front of your fellow Jedi. A day to remember, yet this is not the end of learning, only the beginning.

Concordance of Fealty

The concordance of fealty is personal ceremony taken on by two Jedi Knights or Masters. It is an old tradition that was used before the rise of the Empire, that has gained new popularity within the Jedi Order. For this ceremony, the Knights or Masters exchange each other's lightsabers, the token of their personal connection with the Force and symbol of guardianship of peace and justice. The meaning of this ceremony, is to bring a great bond and trust between two members. It is not a requirment to ever engage in this ceremony, but is a recommended, good expierience to partake of (and fun as well.)
